In-house counsel in Dubai and Abu Dhabi earn a monthly base of roughly AED 35,000 to 75,000 in 2026, rising to AED 90,000 to 160,000 for a General Counsel and higher again for a Chief Legal Officer. Salary is free of personal income tax, and the package on top - housing, schooling, flights and bonus - decides the real figure.

These are base bands to test a real offer against, not promises. Demand concentrates hardest at three-to-five years' experience, and package on top of base typically runs: housing around AED 25,000 a month, school fees capped near AED 30,000-50,000 per child, plus flights and bonus.
The practice area. In-house teams increasingly want niche expertise over all-rounders. The strongest current demand sits in regulatory and data protection - driven by DIFC data-law changes and Saudi enforcement spilling into UAE-facing mandates - disputes and arbitration, projects and construction on the giga-projects, fintech and digital assets, ESG, and corporate and M&A.
Years of experience. The most-wanted UAE profile is a legal counsel with roughly three to five years' experience - the seat with the deepest demand and the tightest supply.
In-house versus law firm. At the same three-to-five-year seniority, an international law firm associate in Dubai runs roughly AED 72,000 to 99,000 a month, ahead of the in-house counsel band. Law firm pay tends to lead early; in-house closes the gap at General Counsel level and brings a different remit and package.
The package. Housing, school fees, flights and bonus routinely add a third or more to base. Two offers with the same base can be a long way apart once the package is priced.
